In a similar spirit to the mug rug that I posted a couple of weeks ago, I was looking to recreate the woven bookmarks I made this past summer with there crochet equivalent. Here is a simply patterned one that uses altering single (Sc) and Treble (Tr) crochet. You should be able to complete this project in under an hour.
Materials:
- light weight (#1) Yarn (lace weight or a thicker embroidered thread work well)
- Crochet Hook (U.S. steel #7 hook, 1.75 mm)
- Scissors
Instructions:
Ch 13 for the foundation chain.
- 1 Sc in each Ch Sp. Ch 1 to begin the next Row.
- 1 Sc in each St. Ch 1 to begin the next Row.
- 1 Sc in each St. Ch 3 to begin the next Row.
- 1 Tr in each St. Ch 1 to begin the next Row.
- Repeat rows 1 – 4 four more times.
- 1 Sc in each St. Ch 1 to begin the next Row.
- 1 Sc in each St. Ch 1 to begin the next Row.
- 1 Sc in each St. Fasten off the ends.
- Create fringe along the top and bottom of the bookmark.
